Hello Folks! This auction is for some Dwarf cichlids that have been around a long time and many folks think are tough to spawn but I happen to know if you just make sure you have both sexes and set them up right they are actually pretty damn easy to get spawning. Win this auction and I will send you 6 NICE Neolamprologus leleupi. Let me get right to the point regarding these leleupi. I can't sex them, and believe me when I tell you, I am VERY, very, good at sexing fish. There's just NOTHING to go by when you attempt to sex out a leleupi. But, like everything else in this hobby, there is a trick. And here is what it is. Males of this species top out at about 4 inches (usually a little less) and females only get about 2 inches (sometimes 2 1/2), What that means is if you want to attempt to sex these you have to get a large group of young fish and then just sit on them for a few Months. After a few Months you will notice about half your fish have grown at a lot faster rate than the other half and presto, you now own a large group of sexable leleupi's and that just happens to be exactly what I now have. So Tom, (he's the guy who gave me these fish to sell for him about 3 Months a go) you can STOP bugging me now cuz I am about to finally sell these damn leleupi for you. LOL! Another reason these fish have a bad reputation among breeders is they seem to NOT want to spawn for folks even when the breeders do have both sexes. That too is easy to overcome if you know how to deal with it. Neolamprologus leleupi just plain old don't like to spawn in community type tanks. They will set up their territories in a couple caves and "act" like they are going to spawn but then they will just frustrate most folks because they don't like to actually have sex in tanks with other non Neolamprologus leleupi's in the tank with them. What that means is, to work with these fish you really want to keep your breeders in a tank by themselves. Now, you may think these fish are more trouble than they are worth, and take a pass on this species, but one thing to keep in mind with them is this. This strain of fish holds it 's value very well simply because most folks that try to breed them FAIL because they don't have an idiot like me around to tell them what they need to do to be successful. Hell, half the time they end up with all the same sex cuz they started with all larger fish cuz they bought all Males cuz Males are the nice big "older" fish in the tank they buy them out of. You can breed these fish in a tank as small as a 20 long and they are "egg hiders". That means you will notice your female (the female guards and tends to the eggs) disappears for a few days and then after about a week or more all of a sudden she will be out in the open again AND she will be swimming around with a nice school of fry with her this time!
