Description

Hello Folks!
I am posting another one of these Starry night shrimp auctions here in mixed lots again this week.
Please people. I am NOT selling these shrimp as side deals this week so DON'T E mail me asking me to.
It is my experience that these Sulawesi shrimp are misunderstood and folks usually end up losing them and I believe that is because there is to much misinformation rolling around the Internet surrounding these shrimp in the first place.
I don't think these shrimp are even algae eaters in the first place and I feel that's everyone first incorrect assumption of many, regarding these shrimp.
See that short video I made of these shrimp? See how they are "picking" at stuff in the photography container? I don't think those shrimp are looking for algae. I know if I drop a green bean in that container they will ignore it. Yet if I drop some Golden pearls or Decapped brine shrimp eggs, or some sifted daphnia in there they will eat that stuff. What's that tell you?
I also don't think you have to worry about their water conditions like some folks do. The water has to be clean but I don't use RO water on these shrimp and I don't raise my PH. I keep them in my regular old Great Lakes tap water that is moderately hard and it also runs slightly alkaline and I do MASSIVE water changes on mine using my plain old Buffalo tap water on them, only using a cheap dechlorinator to condition my water and all I do is simply squirt some in to the tank while I am filling it up.
I do keep these nice and warm though. And instead of keeping the tank super clean I keep a bunch of Oak leaves in it, some plants, wood and a sponge filter. And guess where the shrimp always are? If you guessed on the wood and on the sponge filter you guessed right and I think that's because they are trying to pick small infusorians and tiny crustaceans from those objects.
Anyway, that's how I think these types of shrimp should be kept. I also think, or wait a minute, on this one I am POSITIVE, that these shrimp should NOT be transshipped 2 or 3 per tiny bag because when I get mine that way they almost ALWAYS suffer high mortality during and after shipping. I have personally shipped PLENTY of these shrimp 6 to 12 in normal sized 6x15 fish bags, with some plants for them to hold on to, and I don't recall EVER having one shrimp show up anywhere DOA. And when I talk the Indonesian transshippers in to shipping these type of shrimp to me that way, they do WELL when they arrive to me in that fashion.
Now that I have told you folks a little about my personal experiences with these shrimp I would say it's time to tell you what's going to come with these guys. I do think you outta try to ONLY keep stuff with these shrimp that A. Do not feed aggressively and B. Will NOT attack, harass, or intimidate these shrimp.
I also think it's in you best interest to keep other "stuff" in the same tank as these shrimp so you are not riding such a fine line between under and over feeding them.
And that's another fallacy I believe there is regarding these shrimp.
I have read they should be fed sparingly and a couple of sites have even said you can skip a day here and there and that's good for these shrimp. That's not true either cuz animals that constantly pick like these do, need a nice constant supply of food. They ain't reptiles folks. They don't sit still for 2 days until they get hungry again. These shrimp are constantly looking for food and you oughta make sure they can find some regularly.
Here's another good tip for these shrimp, keep 2 or 3 sponge filters in their tank along with a constant supply of Oak leaves in there. Then give one of those sponges a couple nice squeezes in the tank each day. If you buy a microscope, and it can be one of those 20 dollar kids microscopes too cuz you are only going to really use the thing at 50 or 100 power anyway, you would be amazed at the life you will see in 1 drop of water squeezed out of a sponge filter when your tank also contains a few decaying Oak leaves in it.
Hear that Betta breeders? Try feeding that stuff to your newly free swimming Betta fry the next time you are working with newly free swimming fish. You too folks who are trying to raise fish like Rams and Microctenopomas and all the rest of those fish that are born TINY like rainbow fish.
Holy crap! I am writing a book here and I have a lot more auctions to post!
I am also going to include 1 Trio of Endlers species #2 along with 6 nice young Rabbit snails.
Both those species will NOT intimidate these shrimp and rob them of all the food rapidly, so they will be fine in with them.
I am also going to include some Oak leaves with this auction.
I will include some "Lotsoffish mix #2" and some 50-100 Micron Golden pearls for those shrimp. I will include some floating stems of Wisteria and Hornwort and for once you are going to want that Hornwort to shed a little bit to create some detritus on the bottom of this tank.
I wouldn't use gravel on the bottom of this tank either. Too much food will get lost in it along with any baby shrimps you may have in this tank (did you notice some of the females in my photo's are berried?)
Anyway folks, that's about all I have to say about those auction (that's a lie but I need to post this and move on) so to sum up.
You are bidding on 8 Starry night shrimp, a Trio of Endlers species number 2, and 6 Assorted small Rabbit snails I am going to gather together for you. I will send Oak leaves, a couple types of different foods, oh and some vegetable sticks for the Rabbit snails,(almost forgot about those), and the plants I mentioned above too!
Shipping is on me and I guarantee live arrival of ALL HEALTHY Animals!
