Description

Hello Folks!
This is a nice auction for someone who wants to actually get in to some larger sized fish that will not raise a lot of hell in an aquarium and become AWESOME specimens. I sold some of this same strain of Chocolate cichlids here about 2 years a go and EVERYONE that got some still has them only now they are 8-10 inch fish with awesome color and ALL the males have nice nuchal humps on their foreheads now.
These fish are the real McCoy Hypselecara temporalis and if you do what I tell you, you will have great luck keeping these awesome fish.
The main reason we do not see a hell of a lot more of these awesome fish around is because folks don't understand what these fish are really all about. They will get up to a foot long so they do eventually need some space. They NEED a warm water tank. The main reason folks believe these are a tougher to keep and tougher to spawn cichlid is because they do not keep them warm enough. Think Discus or Uaru when you set up a tank for these fish and everything will end up working out fine for you. Also, the fish I photographed are some of the actual fish I am selling but take a second to check out this link to see what kind of AWESOME fish these will develop in to soon enough- NICE ADULT Chocolate cichlid photo's. See what I mean? Who wouldn't want some of those at 8 inches in a tank?
Now listen, you CAN keep these fish with almost ANY smaller non aggressive fish. They are gentle giants and that is another cool thing about them. These fish even at adult size will be FINE in a tank with Corydoras catfish, tetras, swordtails and all sorts of nice community tank type fish. That's one of the main reasons I can never figure out why these fish have not become as popular as I think they should be. Once again I think it all comes down to people not keeping them warm enough. Some fish simply do not do well in cooler water and these guys are one of them.
Another thing about Hypselecara temporalis that you outta know is they really are a fairly specialized surface feeder. I feed these guys a lot of freeze dried earthworms, and pellets that FLOAT and you should too. If you do a little research on these fish after seeing this auction you will also read that thee are somewhat difficult to spawn and that is also NOT TRUE. They are only difficult to spawn if you attempt to keep them in cooler water. When you keep these fish in their preferred temperature range they WILL spawn for you and even when they spawn in a tank they will NOT kill your smaller fish to protect their fry. They will simply "nudge" them away and keep them away from their eggs and fry by intimidation rather than by killing everything in site. LOL!
Anyway, I have been in to these fish since first seeing them in the early 80's and I think more folks outta try keeping these wonderful fish. They sure have a lot of positive things going for them and if folks just took the time to learn how to keep fish like these I am sure we would see a lot more of them around. And that brings me to one last final comment I would like to make. When I was a young kid and I was knee deep in this hobby it was VERY hard to find good information on how to keep some of this stuff. I was hanging around talking to Ol' Conrad on his front porch earlier this week and we were talking about how when we were younger we had to write letters (you folks remember letters? The ones you actually had to write with a pen and send by putting them in an envelope and stamping it and putting that envelope in something called a mail box?) LOL!
My point here is with the advent of the Internet and "Google" and all that cool stuff nobody should have any excuses as to why they don't know how to keep any of these "harder" to keep fish. All these types of fish are NOT hard to keep. We have just been keeping them THE WRONG WAY. LOL. Anyway Ol' Conrad and I were talking about how we used to send letters to folks and it would take MONTHS just to carry on a conversation about how to keep certain types of fish. You younger folks don't have to do stuff like that anymore, so at least take the time to find out about what you are attempting to keep. It is VERY rewarding to enjoy the success of maintaining fish like these.
Wow! I got carried away writing this description. That means I am in a good mood today, I think I will keep posting auctions right up until my girlfriend gets home and ruins my mood for me. LOL!

You are bidding on 4 of these Hypselecara temporalis. They are about 2 1/2 inches long and I can NOT sex them but if you get 4 odds are good you will end up with both sexes.

I am also going to ship you a few NICE swordtails to keep with these Hypselecara temporalis. When I say NICE I mean nice. You WILL like these swordtails also.

Shipping is 100% FREE and I will also include a good supply of freeze dried Earthworms to feed these awesome Hypselecara temporalis.

Yes, this is some more live Sarah McLachlan. I had such a big response to some of her music I used the past couple of weeks I figured I would give you some more.
