This is the well-known but hard to find poecilia velifera from the Yucatan Peninsula, bred from Greg Sages collection. They are healthy, active, and peaceful fish. The males have gorgeous iridescent blue markings on the caudal fin, a gold stripe that runs the length of their large dorsal fin, and a deep gold coloring around the mouth and throat. Males display often, making them prodigious breeders. These fish do best in a highly oxygenated tank with some water movement. I use box filters with a powerhead placed directly over one of the filters for added oxygenation and movement, hence the white specks in the photograph, but any type of quality filtration will do. Though not typically considered algae eaters, they are gutty fish and will nibble at anything. This is one tank with no algae problem. The winning bidder will receive 1 male and two females.
