Hello folks! Happy Summer everyone! This offering is for a Breeding group of 8 Wrestling Half beaks, Dermogenys pusilla. Several Females I have are currently gravid and breeding right in my tanks and I have worked with these in the past and as long as you provide some surface cover you can actually net out the fry each morning when you turn on your tank lights and raise a good amount of these in a separate tank away from the adults. Also the fish I have are tank raised and not wild caught. Wild caught Wrestling Half Beaks are a shiny silver color and tank raised fish lack that metallic look because that metallic color is NOT natural pigment on the fish it is a non lethal parasite they carry that does not harm the half beaks. I know this for 2 reasons. All the fry I ever raised up lacked that metallic color and drum roll please-another hobbyist who knew more about Dermogenys pusilla than I did pointed this out to me quite a few years ago. The Adult fish I am offering were imported from Indonesia BUT like I said they were not wild caught. In case you don't know anything about these cool little half beaks when I say they are "Adult size" I mean the Males are about an inch and a half long and the Females are a little over 2 inches. This species doesn't get very large. They are also NON aggressive and I actually have mine in a tank with a whole bunch of 1/4 inch Albino Hifin Paleatus Cory's I bred here and am raising up. Everyone is HAPPY in this tank and the ONLY fish in fear of their lives are the baby half beaks these Females keep popping out. Hornwort, along with duckweed would make for some GREAT cover for these fry but I fed a million pieces of duckweed to those Oranda's I am peddling this week and for the first time in YEARS I don't really have any duckweed available to send anyone right now but I do have some nice healthy Hornwort and I will send you some to use as fry cover.. Lastly in case you attempt to do some research on these Half beaks before trying them out the fish I have are in 100% FRESH water and all the other Dermogenys pusilla I have ever kept were also kept in 100% FRESH water. I have read several times that adding salt to their water is helpful but I do NOT agree with this advice. If these fish did poorly or even "not so hot" in fresh water I would not have had all the success with them I have enjoyed. You are bidding on a group of 8 of these Dermogenys pusilla. When I catch them I will make absolutely sure to give you both sexes plus I will net you out some nice gravid Females. These fish are well worth messing with. They are unique livebearers and I have always enjoyed messing with them. The fry are fun to raise and they are an all around cool oddball to have around. I have photographed them at all stages of their lives and you can see them below at all sizes and ages. I will also include some of my Mix #2 with this offering. It is the PERFECT food for these fish. They have very small mouths and they relish it because it is also small and easy for them to consume at all ages of their lives. Shipping is FREE and I Guarantee live arrival of ALL HEALTHY half beaks. Expect something else cool to check out IF you allow me to SHIP in a timely manner!
See how silver the fish are in the first few photo's below? Those are what the wild caught fish look like.
