Description

You are bidding on 6 unsexed juveniles (half inch or larger) of Girardinus metallicus yellow belly variation from Varadero, Cuba. This is a much rarer, and more beautiful geographic locale of metallicus. The females look the same as in the black-bellied variety, but the males, instead of having black chins, are colored a light, opalescent blue color, with yellow highlights in their chins, bellies, and tails. They also have bright blue eyes, that really stand out against the yellow regions. The picture below shows 3 males and does not do the fish justice. They are extremely easy to keep and breed, I raise them on nothing but flakes and flock breed them in a 20 gallon high, though I think you could be equally successful in a significantly smaller tank. I am the only person in the US that I am aware of who is currently offering these unique fish.
