Xiphophorus couchianus aka Monterrey Platies This is the Huasteca Canyon strain that has been distributed by the SMP of the ALA. These fish are extinct in the wild. Half the purchase price of this auction will be donated to the Vern Parish Fund of the ALA for research on livebearing fish. Four young adults. Ill try to make this two pair but it may be 1M/3F. If its only 1M/3F Ill make sure to include at least one pregnant female. These fast-growing, constantly moving livebearers are perfect for the community tank but because of their rarity should be kept in a species specific colony. A 5 or 10 gallon tank is required. The picture shows some adults and older juveniles. These fish are colony bred with 5 adults and 15-20 fry/juveniles/young adults in a heavily planted tank. These fish eat anything but I feed spirulina algae flakes, small pellet foods, brine shrimp, walter worms and grindal worms. They are living in hard water. Buyer pays shipping. I use a heat pack, ship from zip 74105 and the box will be 2 - 2.5 lbs. You keep the Styrofoam box. Priority will likely be $10-12 (less $2 if no heatpack), Expressmail or Second Day Fedex will be more, ~$30-35. If you have the fish shipped by Expressmail, 2nd day Fedex or overnight they are guaranteed. If the fish are DOA their cost will be refunded or I will ship replacements. I dont refund the shipping charges and you have to pay shipping again for replacement fish.
