GOLD SAILFIN MOLLY - Regular 2-2.25 inches

Gold Sailfin Molly Regular Poecilia Mollies are very closely related to the guppies, and are both members of the same genus, Poecilia. Also included in this genus are the platys. Most mollies that are sold are found in Central America and southern part of the United States. They can be found as either shortfin or sailfin mollies. The shortfin are smaller and the sailfin are bigger. Male mollies have larger dorsal fins than females. Shortfin mollies: The color on these fish is a greenish/silver with some brown and yellow patterns on them, along with the black spots that will vary. Keeping the tank warm will keep these fish happy. In the wild, you would see them in warm springs and ponds, with some weeds. They feed on both plant and animal matter, but are mostly herbivores. Keep the pH between 7.0-8.0; and the dH between 20-30. Sailfin mollies: The name describes what this fish can look like. With a fin that can be the size of the fish itself, it is a very nice fish to have in an aquarium, for the display! The size of this fin will determine their mate, and also the rank among other Mollies. The color of these fish is a light grey, but can turn a green-ish blue during breeding. There will be rows of spots, almost to the point of stripes. The black molly is a very popular species of molly. Also feeding on algae and other plants, they occasionally will eat larvae of mosquitos. Breeding: Keep them in a warm, healthy tank. Keep lots of green in the diet. Most reports of failed breeding are because of the tank and the stress of the fish. Make sure there is plenty of room to swim around, no breeding traps. Mollies have been selectively breed by fish farmers from around the world to come up with many variation of colors and patterns. The variations is almost limitless with new morphs showing up annually. online fish
Mollies are members of the genus Poeciliidae or the order Cyprinodontiformes. In the wild they are usually found in brackish or marine water, but these fish are extremely adaptable and can handle most any water conditions. Mollies are great community fish and give live birth. It is recommended to have a group with multiple females, as the males continually court the females. Mollies can be found in extreme conditions but often a little salt might be needed for optimum health. For more details on this species, check out the product description tab below. The size chart is also available next to the product description tab.

Q.  How are the fish  shipped?

A.  They are bagged in plastic bags and clean water with a product to control ammonia levels.  They are then boxed in a Styrofoam insulated box and heat packs or cold packs are used if weather conditions warrant.  They are then shipped via FedEx Express to the home or business address requested.

Q.  How much does shipping cost?

A.  For orders over $100 the shipping is discounted to $39.95 for FedEx Express. For smaller orders under $100 the rate is $49.95. FedEx express is the preferred method of shipment and has 100% warranty. Bluegrass Aquatics guarantees live arrival on all packages shipped.

Q.  When will I receive my fish after placing my order?

A.  Most orders are shipped 2-5 business days after they are ordered.  Some orders that include odd balls and or saltwater fish may requires a couple of extra days to acquire and prepare fish for shipment since they are wild caught imports from a local distributor.  Most of the cichlids listed on the site are in inventory and can be shipped within one to three business days.  If you have a preferred date of arrival select that on the delivery calender provided or include that information and the order number in an email to: eddie@bluegrassaquatics.com.  We will let you know if we have to delay or reschedule for weather or product availability.

Q.   Where are you located?

A.   Bluegrass Aquatics guarantees live arrival on all packages shipped. We cannot guarantee live arrival of packages that are not received on time due to carrier delay, whether it is due to weather conditions or failure to pick up or receive fish within two hours of arrival. We will, however, do our best to resolve any problems or question you may have. It is our goal to help you keep your fish alive and healthy. "Live arrival" is defined by Bluegrass Aquatics as follows: upon opening the box and inspecting your new arrivals, the fish are all swimming and appear to be in good order. In other words, they are not floating upside down dead. If you receive fish that do not meet these standards, it is the customers responsibility to take digital pictures of the fish and email them to us within two (2) hours of receiving the fish. The digital pictures of your DOA fish should be taken while the fish is in the unopened bag or with the tails clip off if discovered after opening the bag. We also encourage you to call or email us once you receive your fish to confirm their safe arrival within 2 hours, particularly if any abnormal conditions or extreme stress of the fish are involved. In the case of a DOA of a guaranteed fish, a credit will be issued. We do not refund the cash value of the fish or the cost of shipping. In the event of total loss (80% or more) of a FedEx overnight shipment, a new order will be shipped at no cost to the customer or a credit for the total order including the shipping cost will be credit to the next order.

Q.   How do I acclimate the fish?

Simply float in bag in the tank to adjust the temperature, then introduce the fish only into tank without any of the bag water.Ôªø

The Drip Method is recommended only for saltwater fish and invertebrates

Q.   What size are the fish?
