For sale are a half dozen mixed color hellerii/alvarezi/maculatus/variatus hybrids. Basically, they're swordtails and platies. Some males grow super long swords on their tail, some don't get swords at all. These are the color culls from my calico-swordtail breeding program. They're all very strong, healthy fish, but they're not the color combination that I want, so I'm selling them. All you have to pay is the shipping, which I estimate will be about $14.00.

There are a few solid red, a few with clear/pinkish bodies and red fins and backs, a few gold, a few gold with red tails, and a few with solid black bodies and clear fins. They're all between a half an inch and an inch and a half long. Their maximum size will be about three inches long. They come from water that is pH 8.4 and ranges from 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Ammonia and nitrite are 0 ppm and nitrate is less than 10 ppm.

They are not inbred (as some breeders are wont to do). Rather, they are vigorous hybrid combinations of Xiphophorus hellerii, Xiphophorus maculatus, Xiphophorus variatus, and Xiphophorus alvarezi. My method is to keep all of my female fry and to sell off all of my male fry, and to get a single male or maybe two males with a desirable trait from an outside source to father the next generation of fry. It means that these fry are very, very strong (hybrid vigor) and can't be wiped out by any single fish disease. It also means I've got a lot of fry to sell off because they don't always come out the right color.
