Nothobranchius jubbi aquarium strain. 30+ eggs of this beautiful killifish were hand picked and immediately placed in peat. If previous batches are any indication, I would expect one to two dozen fry or more to hatch, usually over multiple wettings. Please note: these eggs were recently picked, and their incubation time is usually about 4 months, so under normal conditions they won't be ready to hatch for quite some time.

A stunning Notho that one does not see every day. I start the fry out on microworms, then move them up to newly hatched brine shrimp after a few days. I also usually add a bit of java moss to the hatching container to theoretically provide a continuous source of infusoria. As they grow, they will accept most frozen "meaty" foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and mysis, and will even accept some flake and small pellets. They of course relish live brine shrimp and blackworms as well. Pictured is an adult male of this strain, from a previous generation. Females, as usual, have very little coloration or markings.

How many fry should you expect? I always pack a few extra eggs in each bag, but some eggs will perish during the perils of bagging, shipping and storage. On average, I expect a hatch of about half the original number; sometimes I am delighted with more, other times I'm disappointed with fewer. With some species, multiple wettings may be required to get a good number of fry. See the "Replacement" section below if you have poor results.

Parameters: I don't use heaters, so tanks are in the low 70s in winter and high 70s in summer. Our water is moderately hard (140mg/l) with a pH of 7.5, and I add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. TDS is about 200 out of the tap, but my addition of salt brings it up to 1000 or so.

Shipping: I ship to CONTINENTAL US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Eggs usually ship the Saturday, Monday; or Tuesday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $12.00 per shipment for Priority Mail with heat pack, or $30 for Express Mail. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together or eggs can ship with fish for no additional shipping charge.

Payment: please pay by paypal within 3 days of purchase. I usually send out an email within a day of auction end, but feel free to email whenever you wish. I would prefer to send a paypal invoice, so please let me know your quantity and shipping choices. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.

Replacement: Some eggs do not survive the rigors of shipping. If you get a zero or meager hatch after their due date, I will either replace or refund the price of the eggs. The most dangerous part of their trip is often the time spent sitting in the mailbox or on the porch. If you unable to be home for mail delivery, please consider having the parcel held at your local post office for you to pick up. Shipping charges are not refundable.
