Hypsolebias longignatus 'Aquiraz 2010-04'

In this USD auction we offer 50 handpicked eggs in peat.

This brazilian species is only known from a single locality near the city of Aquiraz in the northeastern state of Cear�. At the beginning of this year, ((o))eco reported that the expansion of the nearby Avenida Torres de Melo had already partially destroyed this biotope. Trucks dumped rubble and sand on the habitat during the dry season. Even though an embargo was provisionally ordered, it was observed that the embargo was probably not adhered to. The chances are probably rather poor that this habitat can be preserved. Therefore this species is absolutely dependent on killifishfriends as well as other interested ones!

According to own experience these killifish reaches a maximum length of 4 cm and can be kept in pairs or trios in a 12-litre tank. The eggs require a development period of at least 3 months. Watering the eggs with clean rainwater, the juveniles will hatch after 1 to 3 hours and need infusoria for the first few days. After about 4 days they start to eat freshly hatched artemia-nauplii.

We guarantee fertile eggs and a correct packaging. To protect the eggs against short-term cold, we ship the eggs, wrapped in alternating layers of bubble wrap and aluminium foil, in a strong cardboard box. But we can't be responsible for hatching rate, sex-ratio, possible belly-sliders, dissolved eggs on arrival, overheating or undercooling, customs issues, damage to packaging and unexpected problems during transport e.g. hesitations.

The buyer pays the shipping costs of $ 9.00 (~8,00 �) for a shipment with tracking and 5% of the total price when payment is processed via PayPal.
