Description

IMPORTANT: I ship to the address provided in your payment. If paying by paypal, please, please make sure that shipping address is correct before clicking the send button. Shipping days get hectic, and it's easy to miss requests to ship elsewhere. Thanks...

30+ eggs of Nothobranchius rachovii Beira 98, hand picked and immediately placed in peat. If previous batches are any indication, I would expect a dozen or so fry to hatch, usually over multiple wettings. Please note: these eggs were recently picked, and their incubation time is usually about 5 months, so under normal conditions they won't be ready to hatch for quite some time.

This is a classic annual killifish, and perhaps one of the most beautiful aquarium fish in the world. Males get about 2" long; females a little less. This is a truly annual killifish with a fairly short lifespan of perhaps 8 months to a couple of years. The best way to enjoy them is to consider them flowers in the garden: watch them develop and bloom into spectacular fish, then collect eggs and do it again next season. Title picture is of male from preceding generation; females as usual show very little color or markings. Occasional jumpers; keep 'em covered.

Parameters: I don't use heaters, so tanks are in the low 70s in winter and high 70s in summer. Our water is moderately hard (140mg/l) with a pH of 7.5, and I add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I've never checked it myself, but a couple of buyers report my water arrives with a TDS of 900-1000 ppm.

Shipping: I ship to CONTINENTAL US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Eggs usually ship the Saturday, Monday; or Tuesday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $10.00 per shipment for Priority Mail, or $30 for Express Mail. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together or eggs can ship with fish for no additional shipping charge.

Payment: please pay by money order or paypal within 3 days of purchase. The email address that Aquabid provides in the winning bidder notice is my paypal address, so if you know your total, feel free to pay before contacting me. Otherwise, I usually send out an email within a day of auction end. If you prefer to pay by money order, the Aquabid address is again correct; please let me know when money order is in the mail. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.

Replacement: Some eggs do not survive the rigors of shipping. If you get a zero or meager hatch after their due date, I will either replace or refund the price of the eggs. The most dangerous part of their trip is often the time spent sitting in the mailbox or on the porch. If you unable to be home for mail delivery, please consider having the parcel held at your local post office for you to pick up. Shipping charges are not refundable.
