Auction is for 20+ eggs of the beautiful Blue Gularis killifish Fundulopanchax sjoestedti "Dwarf Red". My current strategies for these eggs are to either water imcubate for 2-3 weeks, or to peat incubate abd flood them 7 weeks after the pick date. Fry are large, and will thrive on newly hatched baby brine shrimp and microworms immediately, and will accept fine pellets and crushed flake food. Additional eggs available.

A classic Gularis strain. Their common name is a bit misleading: they aren't very "dwarf" (they get almost 5") and not particularly "red" (the camera flash makes them look much more orange-red than they do in the tank), but they are beautiful.

I start fry out on newly hatched brine shrimp. Title picture is of male from preceding generation; females as usual show very little color or markings. An easy killifish to keep, and moderately easy to breed. Great jumpers; keep 'em covered.

How many fry should you expect? I always pack a few extra eggs in each bag, but some eggs will perish during the perils of bagging, shipping and storage. On average, I expect a hatch of about half the original number; sometimes I am delighted with more, other times I'm disappointed with fewer. With some species, multiple wettings may be required to get a good number of fry. See the "Replacement" section below if you have poor results.

Parameters: I don't use heaters, so tanks are in the low 70s in winter and high 70s in summer. Our water is moderately hard (140mg/l) with a pH of 7.5, and I add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I've never checked it myself, but a couple of buyers report my water arrives with a TDS of 900-1000 ppm.

Shipping: I ship to US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Eggs usually ship the Saturday, Monday; or Tuesday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $10.00 per shipment for Priority Mail. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together or eggs can ship with fish for no additional shipping charge.

Payment: please pay by money order or paypal within 3 days of purchase. The email address that Aquabid provides in the winning bidder notice is my paypal address, so if you know your total, feel free to pay before contacting me. Otherwise, I usually send out an email within a day of auction end. If you prefer to pay by money order, the Aquabid address is again correct; please let me know when money order is in the mail. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.

Replacement: Some eggs do not survive the rigors of shipping. If you get a zero or meager hatch after their due date, I will either replace or refund the price of the eggs. The most dangerous part of their trip is often the time spent sitting in the mailbox or on the porch. If you unable to be home for mail delivery, please consider having the parcel held at your local post office for you to pick up. Shipping charges are not refundable.
