Spectrolebias reticulatus 'Altamira Rio Xingu'

Offering 50 hand-picked eggs in peat.

This species was found on the stream island "Ilha do Arapuj�", which lies in the Rio Xingu opposite the city "Altamira". However, the hydroelectric plant of Belo Monte 40 km upstream flooded this flat stream island. An Indian tribe that had lived on the island for many generations was forced to relocate and an unknown number of endemic plant and animal species on the stream island became extinct due to the rising water level in the Rio Xingu.

So far, this beautiful species has not been found in nearby places, so it can be assumed that it is extinct in nature. Since then, this species has been preserved by only a few aquarists before its final extinction. This means that these fish are absolutely dependent on killifishfriends as well as other interested ones!!!

According to own experience these killifish reaches a maximum length of 4 cm, which can be kept in pairs or trios in a 20-litre tank. The eggs require a diapause depending on the temperature of between 3 to 5 months for the development of the juveniles. Then it's time to water the eggs with clean rainwater with a temperature between 21� and 23� C. The juveniles will hatch after 1 to 3 hours.

We guarantee fertile eggs and a correct packaging, but we can't be responsible for hatching rate, sex-ratio, possible belly-sliders, dissolved eggs on arrival, overheating or undercooling, customs issues, damage to packaging and unexpected problems during transport e.g. hesitations.

The buyer pays the actual shipping cost, a $ 2.50 (~2,00 �) fee for packaging material and a $ 3.00 (~2,50 �) fee for PayPal, if payment does not processed with PayPal friends.
