Description

IMPORTANT: I ship to the address provided in your payment. If paying by paypal, please, please make sure that shipping address is correct before clicking the send button. Shipping days get hectic, and it's easy to miss requests to ship elsewhere. Thanks...

Auction is for a week's spawn of the South American Annual killifish Rachovia sp. Monteria, packed in peat. I check to make sure there are eggs in there, but have no idea how many there might be. Incubation time ranges from 14-20 weeks; I hatched the parents at 16 weeks. These eggs are recently picked, so it will be quite a while before they are ready to wet. Fry will accept microworms and newly hatched baby brine shrimp shortly after hatching; juveniles and adults thrive on most frozen and live aquarium foods, and will accept some flake or micro pellet foods as well. Additional eggs available.

A pretty killie that you don't see every day. Looks especially beautiful in a planted tank, but quite attractive in a barren breeding tank as well. Title picture is of male from preceding generation; females as usual show very little color or markings. A moderately easy killifish to keep, and moderately easy to breed. Avid jumpers; keep 'em covered.

Parameters: I don't use heaters, so tanks are in the low 70s in winter and high 70s in summer. Our water is moderately hard (140mg/l) with a pH of 7.5, and I add one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5 gallons. I've never checked it myself, but a couple of buyers report my water arrives with a TDS of 900-1000 ppm.

Shipping: I ship to US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Eggs usually ship the Saturday, Monday; or Tuesday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $10.00 per box for Priority Mail with heat pack if needed. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together for no additional shipping charge, or eggs can ship free with fish.

Payment: please pay by money order or paypal within 3 days of purchase. The email address that Aquabid provides in the winning bidder notice is my paypal address, so if you know your total, feel free to pay before contacting me. Otherwise, I usually send out an email within a day of auction end. If you prefer to pay by money order, the Aquabid address is again correct; please let me know when money order is in the mail. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.

Replacement: Some eggs do not survive the rigors of shipping. If you get a zero or meager hatch after their due date, I will either replace or refund the price of the eggs. The most dangerous part of their trip is often the time spent sitting in the mailbox or on the porch. If you unable to be home for mail delivery, please consider having the parcel held at your local post office for you to pick up. Shipping charges are not refundable.
