Description

50+ eggs of this beautiful killifish were hand picked and immediately placed in peat. If previous batches are any indication, I would expect one or two dozen fry to hatch, usually over multiple wettings. Please note: these eggs were recently picked, and their incubation time is usually 5-6 months, so under normal conditions they won't be ready to hatch until about July or August.

Pictured is an adult male of this strain, from a previous generation. Females, as usual, have very little coloration or markings.

This is an absolutely gorgeous "annual" killifish, somewhat challenging to keep and breed, and with a typical lifespan usually less than a year. I like to think of them as flowers in a garden: each individual has a limited lifespan, but if you keep the population going, you can always have a tankful of these beauties around. I start the very tiny fry out on paramecium and microworms, then move on to newly hatched brine shrimp. I also usually add a bit of java moss to the hatching container to theoretically provide a continuous source of infusoria. As they grow, they will accept most frozen "meaty" foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and mysis, and will even accept some flake and small pellets. They of course relish live brine shrimp and blackworms as well.

Cold Weather Shipping: I ship to US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. Eggs usually ship the Monday or Saturday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $8 for Priority Mail. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together for no additional postage.

Payment by money order or paypal.

Please note: I ship to the address provided in your payment. If paying by paypal, please, please make sure that shipping address is correct. Shipping days get hectic, and it's easy to miss requests to ship elsewhere. Thanks...
