50+ newly hand-picked eggs of this beautiful killifish, packed in peat. Since these are freshly picked, there will be some eggs that don't develop, but I usually expect at least 25 to hatch at the first wetting - sometimes a few less, sometimes many more. With the warmer storage temperatures this time of year, I would expect about 10 weeks for incubation time.

Among the most popular and beautifully colored killifish, these are relative "giants" that get 5" and larger. This is a classic aquarium strain with no collection location or data. Pictured is "dad", currently about 6" long. Please note, the camera flash didn't catch his full color; he has a lot of green and blue, especially along the top. Females, as usual, have very little coloration or markings.

Hatching: I prefer to leave the eggs in peat until the expected hatch date, then poke through the peat looking for "eyed up" eggs. If the eggs, calendar or just a good feeling makes me think the eggs are ready, I put peat with eggs into a plastic shoebox, cover with 1/2" of water from an existing tank, and stir for a few seconds. Fry will usually start hatching within 24 hours. At 48 hours, I usually move the fry to a new shallow container, and re-dry the peat to try again in a few weeks.

Feeding: Gularis fry are comparatively large, and can easily consume newly hatched brine shrimp immediately. I start killifish fry out on vinegar eels or microworms, and newly hatched brine shrimp. I also usually add a bit of java moss to the hatching container to theoretically provide a continuous source of infusoria. As they grow, they will accept most frozen "meaty" foods like brine shrimp, bloodworms, and mysis, and will even accept some flake and small pellets. They of course relish live brine shrimp and blackworms as well. Adult Gularis are often fed small earthworms as well.

Shipping: I ship to US only; shipping may need to be coordinated around weather and postal holidays. During mild weather, eggs usually ship the day after payment clears. During the winter cold or summer heat. eggs usually ship the Monday after payment clears to reduce risk of spending a weekend parked outside some postal sorting station. Please include $2.00 for First Class Mail or $6.00 for Priority mail. Multiple egg purchases can be shipped together for no additional postage.

Payment: please pay by money order or paypal within 3 days of purchase. The email address that Aquabid provides in the winning bidder notice is my paypal address, so if you know your total, feel free to pay before contacting me. Otherwise, I usually send out an email within a day of auction end. If you prefer to pay by money order, the Aquabid address is again correct; please let me know when money order is in the mail. I am often looking to clear tanks to make room for the next hatch, so prompt payment is always appreciated.
