I sell eggs of this species to promote the keeping of killifish. I do not sell killifish eggs to supplement my income. I hope you enjoy this wonderful fish.

ONE week spawn with at least 3 males and 5 females (approximately 50+ eggs) of Nothobranchius foerschi in about 30-40 grams of moist peat shipped in a 24 x 18 x 2 cm envelope. Peat will be examined and a rough egg count will be done before shipment is made. Unfertilized eggs are removed from the peat. Peat and freshly picked eggs are placed in a double zip-lock bag and the bag is wrapped in several layers of paper towel. Eggs will normally ship 2 to 3 days after the bid ends and the buyer will be notified by email when shipment occurs.

Incubation of the eggs of this annual species takes about 8 to 12 weeks. I will send the eggs after a couple days of incubation so I can remove any unfertilized ones. This is a great beginner annual killifish. Young fish are quite susceptible to the microscopic dinoflagellate Odinium pilularis (velvet disease), so many hobbyists add 1 teaspoon of marine salt (or non-iodized pickling salt) per 10 litres of aquarium water in order to prevent this parasite. Fry are quite small when they hatch. Fry will eat microworms at first and then brine shrimp when they get a bit larger. Having Java Moss in your rearing tank is a good idea because it provides a source of microorganisms (infusoria) for your fry to eat. I can send you a starter culture of microworms with the eggs for FREE (Canada only).

Extreme care must be taken to maintain water quality in the hatching tank. Fry should be fed twice a day with small water changes twice a week for maximum growth. Growth is relatively fast and your first fish should starting sexing out after about 4 - 6 weeks. Males generally grow faster than females. Larger fish should be removed from the rearing tank as they can consume smaller fry. These fish take about 2 to 3 months to reach sexual maturity.

This killifish is easy to keep. Parents are in moderately hard water (100 mg/L) with a temperature of about 21-22 degrees C and pH of about 7.8. Parents love to eat live and frozen foods including brine shrimp, bloodworms, and tubiflex worms. They will even eat flake foods.

Nothobranchius foerschi naturally inhabits seasonaly flooded depressions, pools and swamps in eastern Tanzania in the drainage basins of the Ruvu and Rufiji rivers.

Shipping will be done when spawning is complete and weather permitting - not too cold or too hot for travel. Please contact me for details when your bid wins.

Shipping and packaging costs for Canada are regular ground post $3.00 (about 3-6 business days in transit) and Xpress post $19.00 (about 1-3 business days in transit with a tracking number). For the United States air mail shipping and packaging costs are $6.00 (about 5-8 business days in transit). I will guarantee live delivery of eggs and the hatching of at least 25% of the eggs to buyers in Canada and the United States, but only once! Abuses of this generous policy will not be tolerated. I do not guarantee that the fish will survive beyond hatching, that responsibility is the buyer's! Eggs will be resent as soon as they are available from the spawning fish.

For international locations, like western Europe, air mail shipping and packaging costs are $10.00 (about 6-10 business days in transit). For International shipping I only guarantee delivery of the envelope.

To reduce costs, two auction wins can be combined in one envelope. Unlike some people on Aquabid, I don't charge extra for this. I will not put three or more auction wins in the same envelope.

Only Paypal payments are accepted.

Eggs are sent from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada (Google Map).
