Description

4 oryzias dancena also known as the Indian rice fish. They are young adults. I believe there are 2 males and 2 females. The females produce clutches of eggs every morning. They carry the eggs in their anal fin for an hour or two prior to depositing them on plants or in my case, yarn spawning mops. Although difficult to see the female pictured(to the left) is carrying a clutch of eggs(they look like a clear raspberry). I keep them in a 10 gallon with yarn spawning mops and duck weed on the surface. They are a very active fish with bright blue eyes and some blue iridescence in the fins. The fry develop blue eyes at a very young age and you will see dozens of blue orbs swimming in the fry tank. They thrive in my hard Lake Erie tap water at about 75 degrees. I hand pick eggs and incubate in water. They are fungus resistant and fry are hardy feeding on microworms for the first week. They quickly graduate to baby brine shrimp and 5-50 micron golden pearls. You will also see fry swimming in the parent tank and some will survive as the adults are not particularly predatory on their young. Shipping is $15 non-refundable on top of the winning bid. This auction will ship Friday 11/2. So payment is requested by the end of the day on Thursday 11/1.
