This auction is for my young breeding group of aphyosemion striatum Cape Esterias. The group consists of 1 male and 4 females. I will no longer be working with this strain and these are the last I have. They are actively laying viable eggs. Males can be hard drivers, but using numerous females diffuses his advances. They do well in my hard Lake Erie tap water. Temperature varies by time of year but fluctuates between 68-72 degrees. In my experience, striatum suffer at tropical temperatures. So room temperature works well. I keep my breeding fish in a bare 10 gallon aquarium with plenty of yarn spawning mops(floating and sinking). I hand pick eggs and water incubate. Incubation is about 21 days. You can also incubate in peat. I start my fry on microworms and vinegar eels and after a week or so they start eating newly hatched brine shrimp and 5-50 micron golden pearls. Growth is moderate. Adults are not picky eaters. Mine eat Tetramin flake, frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms and occasionally white worms. In my fish room spawning is streaky. That is, several weeks of heavy spawning will be followed by several weeks of inactivity. That said, they are not a difficult fish to maintain. Sex ratio is about even. Adults will live in excess of 2 years if not kept at tropical temperatures. Shipping is $15 non-refundable on top of the winning auction bid. These fish will ship Tuesday 10/9. Payment is requested by the end of the day Monday 10/8. If payment is not received as requested, I will relist the auction. Thanks for looking.
