Description

You are bidding on one pair of Nothobranchius hassoni Bukeya, an east african annual killifish of temporary pools in floodplains. These peat moss spawners should have a 10-gallon tank to themselves and floating vegetation to remove dissolved wastes. Room temperature is adequate. I use small goldfish bowls to hold the peat and use either coir or peat pellets. After two to four weeks I remove and dry the peat on newspaper until just damp but not wet. I then pack this in plastic bags and incubate at 80 degrees for 6 to 8 weeks. The peat is then placed in a shoe box with an inch of soft water. If the hatch is small, I remove fry with a soup ladle and redry the peat for another month. If the hatch is large, I wait a week and then pour it all into a 10, 20, or 29 gallon tank (based on number of fry). I feed the fry microworms and newly hatched BBS the day of hatching. Maturity takes about three months. Shipping is $11 for the first and up to three pairs (mix or match) USPS priority mail. I ship on Mondays.
