Meekong River Rice Fish

Oryzias meekongensis

6 Fish - Wild

This auction is for six (6) wild caught young rice fish. OK� it is not as pretty as the currently very hot fish O. woworae, but it's growing on me. This species is very small and likes to move about in schools. It has a glowing lateral line, somewhat like a glowlight tetra, and red edges to its fins. It would be a good addition to a small planted nano-tank. The fish lay eggs in the fashion of other rice fish. A cluster of eggs appears outside the vent of the female in the morning, like a cluster a grapes. After the male fertilizes them the female deposits the eggs in some plants somewhere. Each female will lay 6 - 10 eggs each day. They take about a week to hatch. I raise them by putting several adults in a 2.5 gallon aquarium with some hornwort, naga grass or java moss. After 7 days I move the adults, and fry start to appear a a day later.

Shipping to lower 48 continental USA is flat rate per box regardless of the number of fish sent: Priority Mail = $15 (no live arrival guarantee) Express Mail = $45 (live arrival guarantee, cost of fish only). All other destinations, please inquire. I can fit a lot of fish in a box. I ONLY SHIP ON MONDAYS OR TUESDAYS. New customers need to pay prior to fish shipment. Established customers can pay after fish arrive (I will let you know when you have become an established customer). Payment via PayPal (my account accepts credit cards without you needing a PayPal account). Established customers can mail a check.
