All shrimp are born & raised in-house. They are reared in superb mountain water, fed a high quality diet, and housed with plants. All shrimp sent will be healthy and look appealing. When harvesting your order we catch two or three young-adult females, a male or two, and the remainder too young to tell sex.

During shipping the shrimp need something to cling onto. We include a portion of plant for that purpose. Below is a list of available plants.

SHIPPING:
Livestock is shipped in 1 & 2 liter soda bottles placed into a USPS flat rate bag. Why? Soda bottles are shatter resistant and allow us to ship livestock in substantially more water. The additional water/room reduces stress and water toxicity. When transitioning do so in the bottle. If there are plants in the bottle, pick them out beforehand.

The vulnerable time for a package is when out for delivery. Leave your mail carrier a message that you are expecting a highly perishable package, and to deliver it to your door with a knock.

If your overnight lows are below 45 degrees your package will be shipped to your post office for pick up.

FYI: We don�t offer the option of heat packs. They are problematic because they are too hot when not needed, and spent when they are most needed. Shrimp, being an invertebrate, are relatively safe from the cooler temperatures they experience during shipping. If your weather is so cold a heat pack is necessary...it�s simply too cold to order a live animal!!!
