SHRIMP & DAPHNIA::

10+2 Blue Dream neocaridina. Being I cultivate fish, shrimp, snails, plants, live fish foods, and create my own fertilizers, I include a list of items I have extra of and will include those for free if requested. That list is below.

FYI: I guarantee 10 live shrimp. The additional +2 are to compensate for any fatalities during shipping. I usually include an additional shrimp or two, lower grade culls, on top of the 10+2 just to be safe. The guarantee doesnt cover free items, just the shrimp & shipping. See my guarantee policy below.

FYI: Shipped in 1 & 2-liter soda bottles, in priority mail bags. Why? A soda bottle is far sturdier than a plastic bag, and it allows for a much larger quantity of water which improves survivability greatly. No insulation is used other than the bubble bag - the larger quantity of water aids in moderating temperature just as well as an insulated box that contains only a cup or two of water. Transition them when in the bottle, and then gently pour the transitioned shrimp into their new tank.

Here is a YouTube video showing one of my shrimp tanks, which also contains Russian red daphnia: Neocaradina Shrimp Demo Tank

Free Items: Select 2 free items:
25 Russian red daphnia added with the shrimp
Live fish food: Microworm starter
I keep over 100 aquarium plant varieties. Currently available: salvinia minima, frogbit, riccia fluitans, pearlweed, anacharis, and corkscrew val.

Place the 2 free items you select in the notes of your Paypal payment. If you dont select any of the free items I wont include any.

GUARANTEE:

If DOA I send one replacement at no cost. Please don't file a return as that usually adds additional steps for us both - just send me a picture and I will send another package.

For most of the trip a package is in temperature controlled environments and safe. The most vulnerable time for a package is while its with your local carrier or sitting in your mailbox. Prior to ordering, watch your forecast the following week, for cool & overcast weather. Then, meet the mail carrier and take the package from them directly. If placed in your mailbox, or left in the sun, it will bake within minutes.

SET-UP:

Key to the safest startup is raising the organic level and giving that enough time to cycle completely. When you are watching/reading content on shrimp you will see/hear references to bio-film, biome, micro-organisms, cycle, etc, which is the product of decaying & decayed organic matter. The more organic matter that is allowed to fully decompose, creates a more stable biome, and generates naturally occurring food for the shrimp.

Start with the standard setup: water, gravel, sponge filter, small plant, heater set no less than 65 degrees, and a light. Driftwood and snails are helpful.

Water:
A: Fish Tank: Water from a hydra free fish tank is ideal and requires little cycling time.
B: Tap: These shrimp have a sensitivity to chemicals in treated water so age your water appropriately.

If using an existing tank it already contains plenty of decayed organic matter so requires little cycling time. If starting with tap water, while aging water/cycling the tank, lightly coat the bottom a few times with mulm and allow it time to fully decay. Mulm is the debris you vacuum from the bottom of your fish tanks. As it decays it turns into your biome, which creates a stable environment, and generates naturally occurring food.

My Water:
Shrimp are kept in unaltered tap water. My parameters are middle of the road in regards to softness/hardness & pH. The only additives used are plant fertilizers.

Food:
I feed a lot of different foods. They include boiled produce(brocolli, calliflower, etc), quality fish foods containing whole foods, dead fish, live food from my cultures...there is little they wont at least pick at.

Culling:
I pick out all weird ones, the least colorful males, females that arent fully colored, and juveniles that dont have a pleasing color after a few molts. This is my favorite color shrimp, so dedicate more time to keeping its line straight.

Quality:
When it comes to shrimp quality is important. Im super-duper picky on animal husbandry. I feed my shrimp a more diverse diet than anybody Ive ever seen. Im heavily into aquarium plants so shrimp are raised in water that is kept naturally balanced...their entire lives. Being Im heavily into plants, neocaridina shrimp colonize most of them like wanted pests, so if I see a colony that has drifted I have no qualms feeding the entire tank of shrimp to my fish. Lastly, each day, these shrimp listen to great music. My shrimp, especially the blues, rock!
