Description

6 unsexed, juvenile machrobrachium assamensis. These are a very cool shrimp to work with. Adults are pretty large. Males grow to between 4"-5" and develop really large claws in comparison to their body size. Females are about 1/3 smaller than the males and do not develop large claws. As adults they take on a rusty red color especially in the claws of the males. The shrimp you are bidding on are about 1" long. They prefer meaty foods and these young shrimp are eating Tetramin flake, frozen brine shrimp and chopped frozen bloodworms. You can really condition adult shrimp on small live red worms and live black worms. They are pretty long lived at up to 3 years. I like to keep mine in unheated tanks that fluctuate between 65-70 degrees depending on the season. I do know some local hobbyists that keep them at more tropical temperatures successfully. I don't know what the lifespan of their shrimp are or their reproductive rate in those temperatures. I harem breed mine with one adult male to 2 or 3 adult females. Females will periodically berry-up and after about 45 days or so shrimpettes are released. The adult and other juvenile shrimp ignore them. As the juvenile shrimp begin to show secondary sex characteristics they become combative. Males are not very tolerant of other males and typically in my tanks one alpha male shrimp will dominate the tank. I try to maintain only one breeding male in my colony at any time. Shipping is $15 non-refundable on top of the winning bid. These shrimp will ship Saturday 12/14 so payment is due at the close of the auction on Friday 12/13. If payment is not received as requested, I will relist the auction. Thanks for looking.
