Description

A young adult breeding trio of red claw shrimp. This is a proven trio of breeding shrimp. The male is approx 3.5" from claw tips to tail. The females are approx 1/3 smaller. The photo does not reflect the red coloration of these shrimp, but they develop a rusty red coloration, especially in the claws. I harem breed these guys. I usually place a male to 2 or 3 females in a bare 20 gallon long at room temp(approx 65-68 degrees depending on the season). I have hard Lake Erie tap water. I place a number of sinking yarn mops on the bottom for cover. Male assamensis are highly intolerant of other sexually mature males and will often fight to the death. Females are not aggressive and the alpha male is very tolerant of his harem. Sometimes after breeding you may notice the female missing part of a limb but they regenerate quickly. The females hold the eggs for approx 40 days before she releases miniature versions of the adults. I keep the shrimpettes with the adults and they are ignored. I feed mine Tetramin flake, frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms and live blackworms from time to time. I complete a 50% water change weekly. These are a nice larger shrimp that are not shy. They will actively associate your approach with feeding. I would not recommend keeping them with fish. These shrimp are very dexterous with their large claws and a dozing fish would like be pretty tempting. Shipping is $20 non-refundable on top of the winning bid. It includes an insulated box and necessary heat packs to get your shrimp to you in excellent condition. This auction will ship Saturday 11/23, so payment is due at the close of auction on Friday 11/22. There will be no exceptions as I will likely not be shipping fish from Thanksgiving to New Year. If payment is not received as requested I will relist the auction later. Thanks for looking.
