Vampire Shrimp Atya gabonensis

A gentle giant for your invertebrate collection, these filter feeders are completely harmless despite their name. They feed by using their fan-shaped appendages to filter microorganisms and algae from the water column. Growing up to four inches, these shrimp can live up to five years given ideal conditions. Provide them with clean, well-filtered water with a fast moving current to keep them happy and well-fed.
