Description

1 young trio of machrobrachium assamensis(1 male and 2 females). They are also known as red claw shrimp. I harem breed mine in hard Lake Erie tap water. I keep an adult male to 2 or 3 females. The male is not aggressive toward the females but rival males will often fight to the death. There is large size disparity between the sexes. Males are much larger(sometimes twice as large as the females). The shrimp you are bidding on are about 2.5" - 3". They are young and within the past couple of months began developing secondary sex characteristics. The male will eventually grow very large claws. They are long lived(3-5 years). I keep mine in bare tanks with yarn spawning mops scattered on the bottom for cover. They are kept at room temp which fluctuates between 65-72 degrees depending on the season. They prefer meaty foods. I feed mine Tetramin flake, Ken's earthworm flake, frozen brine shrimp and live black worms. When berried, females carry dark green eggs under their tail. After about 40 days, the eggs hatch and you will see mini replicas of the adults in the aquarium. These shrimp are very curious and will quickly become hand tame at feeding time. They are opportunists and can easily dispatch a fish if within reach. They also need to be completely covered or else they will find their way out of the aquarium. These are the last I will have available until winter. Shipping is $20 non-refundable on top of the winning bid. This auction will ship Monday 7/15/19. Payment is requested by the end of day Sunday 7/14. If payment is not received as requested, I will relist the auction. Thanks for looking.
