Up for auction are 6 undescribed prawn. This prawn grows to 2-3 inches. The juvenile prawns look similar to a grass shrimp however, upon closer inspection, the back of the prawn has stripes like a tiger shrimp and the tail has red dots on each fin & the antennae & claws are red, white & blue when mature. These features become much more pronounced when adults. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!, especially when the prawns mature into beautiful living gems. They are a beautiful clean-up crew, chowing hungrily on leftover flake and anything edible that sinks to the bottom. This prawn seems to get along well in a community tank. This prawn produces larval fry, and lots of them, regardless of salinity. Have a green water culture ready as i may send a berried female. Or for maximum production, raise them in a tub outside, weather permitting. This prawn can survive under a sheet of ice (33�) just like krill. Once you are up to your eyeballs in these critters, use the extras as feeders for Oscars, and other predatory fish! My Calvus love them.

This auction includes 6 prawn, some may be berried. For best results have green water ready to feed the fry. The prawns show best color in the 2-3" size range. The best way to start a colony for breeding purposes is to put a tub or large container outside under a tree and feed them a tiny bit of flake or pellets each afternoon. That way the fry will have unrestricted access to green water. Water perameters are flexible, this is a hardy species. You can add a little aquarium salt to the tub (5ppt) to make them more comfortable, but they will reproduce like weeds no matter what. You can cover the tub with a screen door or equivilent to keep the leaves out during fall. They can survive under a sheet of ice, just like krill.
