Description

UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE TO ADD THIS TO AN OUCTION NOW..... Please if you are a new to AB and have no or low feedback, please contact me first before you bid! I just had a person with no feedback bid on two of my auctions and it seems he fell off the face of the earth. One week has passed and no responce to my many e mails and invoices. Please, if you cant pay for your items with in 3 Days of auction closing, dont bid! I dont want to have to chase you and its not fair to the people who might have been interested in the item! If for some reason you cannot pay for the item within three days, please e mail before you bid and i will see what we can work out. And now for the good stuff! This auction is for 5 Three week orange clarkii crayfish! Just so that there is no confusion, these babies are tiny they measure close to 1/4" in size or a little more! Being that i have not a clue how to post more than one picture here, please feel free to ask me for pictures of the parents or more shots of the young up for auction. This picture posted was taken on 10/19/11.It shows Mom and her young. As you can see the orange starting to appear on them nicely. Color will come in as they grow. This is actually my first attempt to raise crays and i was so happy to see my female berried and was hoping for the best! This species doesnt eat plants as much as other crays but I have found that bunched live plants such as hornwort, and anacharis make great snacks for crays and probably most other plants do too! So plan to keep your tank well planted! I have also found that they will eat pesky snails too! (yaaay) They like shrimp, spirulina and veggie pellets that have been fortified with calcium. Calcuim is important for their growth and strong shells. They also like canned green beans! a few other things i have given them in trace amounts at a time (to avoid spoilage) is canned clams, frozen bloodworms, cooked egg yolk AND shell. They pretty much will eat just about anything but i try to give them a healthy diet as best i can! Honestly, i cant tell you how fast these guys grow, but i can tell you that they need lots of cracks, crevices and hiding places. Crays can become aggressive with eachother and have the capability of even killing eachother. So hiding places are the key! 5 of these critters in a 10 gallon tank will be ok IF they have enough hiding places. 5 of them is pushing the limit though! However, with the fact that these guys are so young, some may perish its only natural so i will include extras. Most likely two or three of the original five will make it to adulthood under good conditions. Good water quality is necessary to keep them healthy. Crays have been known to be good escape artists and it is wise to keep a tight lid on the tank or cover up any holes they could fit through to escape. Its like nothing for them to crawl up an air tube line! clarkii crays are not as sensitive to cooler water as some. You can keep them in a tank that is room temp. Perhaps cooler but why do that? I choose to keep mine in a heated tank. And last but not least.... So far i have had good luck keeping my adult clarkiis with other community tank fish. However it is my suggestion that you keep them in a tank that does not have bottom feeders like cory cats and such. Crays are to slow to catch fish that swim from above. But i have a feeling that corys and such could possibly be a meal if caught. I have not tested this out... this is only my thought. If someone can tell me different, please do so! I would like to be better informed! SHIPPING>>>>>> OK, being that times are tough with this lovely economy the way it is, we all are trying to cut corners and save some dough. It is rare that i ship out anything without a styrofoam lined box but however, its cooler at night now and days are comfortable here. our nights are not quite at freezing and i think that perhaps it may be safe to ship these in a tightly packed box of newspaper as insulation. This way we save money on shipping! This will be a trial run! If the Crays dont do well on shipping you will get the money you paid for the crays back, less shipping. All i need is a picture as proof. no questions asked! These guys will come with a few sprigs of plants to hold on to for their comfort. They will be double bagged and packed tightly with newspaper and shipped via priority mail on MOn or Tuesday after payment has been recd.! shipping will be $8.00! I do combine shipping for $1.00 per each additional item! Please paypal payment to Standswwolves1@aol.com ..questions welcomed! Thanks for your consideration and have a great day!
