Why Fry? I prefer to buy high line guppies as fry instead of adults, especially if they are imported. You know how old the fish are, so you don't purchase elderly fish past their prime. It is fun to watch them develop, especially with guppies as they color up and take on their adult patterns. You can control the virginity of female fry, which is critical if you are purchasing the strain to show, or incorporate your own improvements. Guppies grown in Asia are often reared in brackish to salt water by commercial breeders because the saltwater is free. When you raise fry in your own tanks with your own water, your fish will be much healthier adults and will most likely obtain their maximum coloration, fin growth, and breeding potential.
