Description

Hi, my name is Erica and I breed fish. I love learning about genetics. When I read in Phillip Shaddock's book on guppy genetics that the magenta gene eliminates yellow pigment cells, I decided to get some magenta gene guppies. After looking for them for several years, I finally saw some for sale in Jakarta, Indonesia, and imported them. After carefully culling to straighten my population's spines and increasing the magenta gene spread over their body, I believe I finally have a nice, high quality line of magenta gene guppies.

Do you have a current guppy line and an extra tank? See what color babies you get when you put some of your line and some magenta guppies in your extra tank. Crazy things happen when magenta is crossed to other lines. Here are examples from the internet of crossing the magenta gene onto other guppy lines:

Here are some magenta cross blue moscows:

You can really see how the magenta gene eliminated yellow in this magenta cross Vienna Emerald:

Here's another example of magenta crossed to a blue line. It eliminated the yellow and really altered the iridescence:

Check out what this magenta female looks like, maybe your females will get body color after your magenta cross.

It's impossible to predict, and so much fun :) If you've got a spare tank, mix magenta into your line and see what happens.

You are bidding on two pairs (two males, two females) of magenta gene guppies.

Shipping is $10 east of the Mississippi River, $15 West and is tracked, insured, and guaranteed.
