Description

Puntius padamya, �Odessa�- 2 pair. The males have the brightest velvety red of any freshwater fish- said to rival the color of saltwater fish. I found this line in 2007 and have been selectively breeding them for intense red color and a rich, true black. The females are an overall light bronze with 2 black dots and splashes of red throughout the fins. Like most barbs, it is best for this fish to be with at least 5 to school together to be most comfortable. Attractive as young fish (see pic), they are never seen when young because the males take 6 months+ to color up, and the attractive bronze colored females with black markings do not develop the red stripe.
