Description

This auction may be a once in a lifetime opportunity. The winning bid price will buy you ONE SINGLE Tilapia deckerti from Lake Ejagham (former Tilapia sp. "little Black"), but winning bidder may buy a total of up to six fish (winning bid price x 6). I cannot sex the fish; they are 1/3" to 1/2" in size and growing fast. I managed to raise about a dozen from a recent spawn but six are already spoken for by a good friend of mine. To the best of my knowledge, only two groups currently exist in the U.S. and they trace back to a group of fish that I brought over from Europe about two years ago. In my other auctions I typically throw in a few extra fish for free, but here I can give you only what you pay for. PayPal (JZEMPLENI2@UNL.EDU) is the preferred method of payment but I will also consider other forms of payment. The fish will be double-bagged (including pieces of polyfilter) and will be shipped in a Styrofoam box inside a card board box. There is no charge for box, bags, heat pack (if needed), and polyfilter. I reserve the right to delay shipping in case of unfavorable weather forecast. I can ship with Fedex, USPS Express, USPS Priority, or (if absolutely necessary) UPS. I advice against using USPS Express, because they had problems with delays when shipping out of Nebraska. I guarantee live arrival only for overnight delivery -- no exceptions for this rare species (value of fish minus cost of shipping; no replacement fish). If Fedex, USPS, or UPS screw up, it is the buyer's responsibility to deal with the shipper. Fish will be shipped from Zip 68516, in case you want to estimate shipping expenses. Buyer must be home to receive the fish in order to claim a refund for dead fish. A picture of the dead fish in the unopened bag must be emailed within one hour of receipt of the fish, no exceptions. The picture shows the male of the breeding pair and doesn't do his true beauty any justice. Payment must be received within five days of auction close, otherwise the fish will be re-listed.
