Geophagus Braziliensis, is a peaceful, colorful, easy to care for Geophagus, this fish gets quite large, up to 10”, is a little more aggressive than most Geophagus, does well with more aggressive cichlids. It has a small mouth for its size. This fish grows and develops long filaments on its dorsal fin and the scales of the body become blue/gold in color. It is a very attractive fish that requires a large aquarium over time. These are captive bred and will accept a variety of foods. This is a fish that's considered a good beginner's cichlid. However, like other cichlids it will become territorial, especially toward con-specifics, during spawning. This fish will do well in some planted aquarium. It is not known to be a predator, but will eat small fish if the opportunity arises.

We recommend keeping this fish in larger aquariums, 30 gallon and up. This fish does well with Oscars, Plecos, Severums, Catfish, larger tetras and some other cichlids.
