Hello folks! Happy July!! This offering is for 8 Young F1 Crenicichla saxatilis that are just a little over an inch long. These Pikes were bred locally by a hobbyist named Tom who always seems to be breeding either rarer Cichlids or Catfish. He is the same guy who first started breeding all those Red Lizard Catfish I have offered here in the past. Here's what Tom has to say about these fish- Kept at 80 degrees. Regular tap water with tons of driftwood. 40 gallon long. The females developed red bellies at about 2.5 inches. The male was only 3" when spawning started. When the females belly started to get huge, I did cool water changes about 5 days in a row and eggs were laid. Fry stayed in with parents for a few weeks. These fry were born April 7th. The parents of these pikes were wild caught and imported to the USA as "White spotted Suriname Pikes". In fact I am the guy who originally sexed out and sold Tom these pikes! Tom has spent a good amount of time trying to positively ID these fish and after talking with several "Pike experts" including Vinny Kutty and now believes he is working with Crenicichla saxatilis. These fish should grow to about 10-12 inches long and they are cave spawners. Like most Pikes they will be come aggressive especially towards other pike species. Tom says they will eat ANYTHING from flake food to live blackworms and I have been feeding them frozen brine shrimp and Tetramin, and since they are still youngsters I have even been hitting them with my daily feedings of live baby brine shrimp here in my fish room and they are eating everything I put in their tank VERY well! Pike Cichlids of any kind are pretty hard to find in the hobby, here is a chance to receive 8 youngsters so you can raise them up and work on spawning them while they are still young and easier to keep together!
