Description

6 unsexed, juvenile nanolutea. The fish you are bidding on are about 1/2" - 3/4". They are chunky and growing rapidly. This is a fish that has been on my radar for a while. I acquired a juvenile pair at an auction in Fall 2019. At about 1.5" they began spawning. I keep mine in hard Lake Erie tap water at 78 degrees. They are in a bare 20 gallon long with a couple tipped-over clay pots and a couple pieces of java fern. I feed them Tetramin flake, frozen brine shrimp and frozen bloodworms. They get a 50% water change weekly. The pair are excellent parents. The female tends the eggs that are laid in a flower pot(see picture)and the male patrols the perimeter. I leave the fry with the adults until they are a size where I can safely ship them. The fry eat just about anything. They are heavy feeders. In normal coloration the adult fish are very nice and show hints of yellow. They have blue eyes. In spawning coloration they are bright yellow with black markings. The male is a bit larger than the female with longer fin extensions. The female has a black blotch in her dorsal fin. All adult fish I have seen show the female with the blotch in the dorsal. In comparison to a convict cichlid, the nanolutea are smaller and less aggressive in nature based on my observations. My understanding is that they are now a CARES fish because the area where they are found is under heavy pressure from development. Shipping is $15 non-refundable on top of the winning bid. It includes an insulated box and necessary heat pack(s) to get the fish to you in excellent condition. This auction will ship Wednesday 5/20. So payment is due at the close of the auction on Tuesday 5/19. I will send an email at the close of the auction with payment instructions. If payment is not received as requested, I will relist the auction. See my Just Me page for additional details. Thanks for looking.
