Hello folks! Happy Thursday! This offering is for a 5 inch long Leporacanthicus triactis. I have only seen these offered in retail pet shops a couple of times over the last 20 or so years and they are always labeled "3 Beacon Plecos" when I see them. This fish behaves similar to those Vampire Plecos I offer occasionally and like those they are mostly meat eaters and tend to be much bolder than all those Hypancistrus everyone seems to get into. Leporacanthicus tend to grow larger than most Hypancistrus too and I think they are hardier and easier to care for. They always seem to do well for me anyway. They also don't have to be kept quite so hot either This fish is aggressively eating frozen blood worms and Earthworm sticks and if you win this offering I will send you some earthworm sticks for it. It's also FULL BELLIED and in excellent condition and believe me when I tell you they don't always arrive that way. It will be full grown at a little under a foot. Just remember one thing if you are considering adding a fish like this to a South American Cichlid tank. This Pleco basically eats the same sort of foods typical South American Cichlids eat. Make SURE it is getting it's fair share at feeding time. It will probably be best to offer it some foods right after you turn your tank lights off at first until it gets used to hearing the hood opening before food is introduced to the tank. Once it learns food is coming when you open up your tank top it will be right out there looking for it's fair share on it's own. I've been in this hobby for at least 40 years now. I think folks lose plecos to starvation more often than all other reasons combined. Don't let that happen to YOUR catfish!
