Proven Pair

These unrelated fish both have a lot of albino in their family trees and the offspring are roughly a 50/50 mix of brown and albino. When I put them together a year ago there was also a juvenile albino female in with them and when I started seeing albino fry I figured she was just very small for her age and breeding already. But the albino fry continued after she was taken out.

These are naturally smaller fish, not stunted. Most of my Bristlenose pairs are too big to breed in a 10G tank but these have done quite well as long as I remove the fry regularly. The first two pictures below are from last year when I first put them together. He is quite light and very mottled. She is much darker, sometimes solid, sometimes mottled. They are just under 2 years old, born Spring 2010.

Below is a current picture of the female (Mar 2012) showing a more mottled pattern and a picture of the male from today (April 3 2012) with a few of his newest fry. If she is a little over 2.5" he would probably be 3" or more now but he won't let me measure him. They are a really cute pair of fish that I have enjoyed very much. The ONLY reason I am willing to sell them is because I have recently received a couple of pairs of gorgeous adult ALFs and I have more pairs than I normally keep. If you would like a pair which you could realistically breed in a 10G tank, look no further.

This is an actively breeding pair and while the male is not tending eggs/wigglers/fry right now that could change. I am not going to force him out of his cave if he is tending eggs or wigglers. So it's possible there could be a delay before shipping. If he isn't tending a spawn I will take away his cave as soon as the fish are paid for.

If you are someone who wants buying fish online to be like buying an iPod on Amazon and want the fish shipped the day after you pay, please stop reading now and go find someone else's fish to buy. I cannot promise I will be able to ship these fish promptly. But if you don't give me a hard time about a delay you might find something extra in the box! :)

Term details are on my Just Me page. Please read it before bidding. A copy of these terms is also included in this auction as commented out text and can be viewed by looking at the page source. Please do not bid if you cannot pay AND accept delivery promptly. The only reason I delay shipment is weather.

Priority Mail is included in the price. Fish will be in poly bags and in a well insulated box with a heatpack as needed. USPS Hold for Pickup (free) and Express Mail (additional cost) are available. I also offer UPS Air. I will only ship with a guaranteed Next Day service to locations with lows under 20F or over 85F, no exceptions. The costs may exceed the value of the fish so email for an estimate before bidding. "Which should I choose?"
