Large Juvie to Young Adult Male Bristlenose Plecos

I have a limited quantity of large juvenile to young adult bristlenose. You are bidding on ONE male bristlenose with the option to get more at auction closing price. Both brown and albino are available. Size is from 1.75" to 2.50". These are big enough to make a major dent in your algae fast. And if you have larger fish like cichlids, these are big enough to go in with most fish. I would recommend the browns if you have cichlids because they can hide better.

This auction is aimed at the hobbyist who is looking for a fish that can get to work right away, can live with larger fish and doesn't need any special care past the usual diet requirements all BN have.
The idea of extra large DWARF plecos doesn't make sense to me, I don't selectively breed for the biggest fish. Most males will mature to just over 4" but they could be anywhere from 3.5" to 5", both extremes are rare. These fish live for many years and are trouble free with the right diet and clean well oxygenated water.
Bristlenose need places to hide and really appreciate a choice of several caves. Males will establish territories so do not crowd them. A diet rich in fiber including fresh veggies, such as zucchini, green beans, peas and collard greens is required. Driftwood for them to rasp on is advised and will provide additional fiber and aid digestion. A high protein diet without enough fiber can cause serious problems.
If you are not sure how many you need for your tank(s) just email. In my experience, most people greatly overestimate how many fish they need to keep a tank free of soft algae..
Ideal temps are mid 70s, do not keep these fish over 80F.
Here are the answers to the five most common questions I get.
- Can these fish be sexed? NO
- Do you have pairs or females for sale? NO
- Do you have any larger fish available? NO
- Do you have longfins? NO
- Do you allow local pick up? SORT OF, read this: Local Pickup
