Hello folks! Happy Thursday! Fall has arrived! This offering is for a HARD TO FIND catfish I raised up over the Summer. This guy (or girl)has easily doubled in size the last 3 Months and it is in PERFECT condition. I took the photo's of it below last Friday afternoon and then ended up running out of time so I didn't post the auction for it last week. It was imported from Indonesia as a "Killer Catfish" and it's actually a Wallago attu. I have also seen these fish offered as "Helicopter Catfish" quite a few times. This fish was wild caught and only about 4 inches when it arrived. It is an ambush predator and gets BIG and I mean like Red Tail Catfish/Planiceps catfish BIG! I have it aggressively eating ANYTHING meaty I add to it's tank like frozen brine shrimp to earthworms, frozen cocktail shrimp and of coarse culls I do not think are worthy of breeding/selling. Wikipedia says this about their eating habits- "It is common to find huge frogs and fishes inside its stomach, when cut open for cooking. It has been claimed that in some areas of Thailand the natives fear the species because of its believed habit of eating small chickens and ducks, dogs, and small children. It is thought the fish became this aggressive due to natives laying to rest their dead in the water. The catfish would then see this as a ready supply of food." The photography container I took the photo's of this offering in is 7 inches across so he's about 8 inches long right now fully straightened out. I did see a guy offering one of these at 14 inches at MosterFishKeepers.com and he wanted 125 bucks for his PLUS shipping. I am starting mine at a buck and offering FREE SHIPPING.
