Description

This guy is great. Light blue body with white fins and a beige mask. He eats like a pig and builds a new bubble nest after every water change. By the way, his spine is fine...he is very active and it was hard to get a decent pic from him. He is turning and looking down in the pic, which gives him a bit of a humped appearance. I'll try to figure out how to post a pic of him in a normal position when I can get it. There seems to be some controversy over dumbo eared bettas because folks seem to think that their extended fins (I'm a theater geek so I call them "jazz hands") will hinder their ability to swim. I'm here to tell you that I've kept lots of dumbo ears and they all swim just fine. Their jazz hands don't seem to hinder them at all. I keep my bettas at about 84 degrees in my tap water at 2 grains carbonate hardness, pH of 6.8-7.8 with a bit of salt (about 1/2 teaspoon per gallon). They are eating Golden Pearl floating pellets from kensfish.com (Ken is great...check him out!) as well as various frozen foods. I change the water every 24-48 hours. The number one killer of bettas is velvet. If you keep these guys too cool, let the water get dirty, or don't add salt, you are asking for problems. Keep them warm, change the water often (it take like maybe 1 minute, so just do it!), give them a bit of salt, and they are tough as bullets. If you win this auction and PayPal me the money Sunday night, I'll send them to you Monday. Happy bidding!-Dan H.
