Using Maroxy, Aquarisol, and salt to preventative treat incomming import fish. Indian Almond leaf to condition water, reducing in amount as weeks go by. Feeding Hikari Betta Bio Gold as staple, Also feeding FD blood worms, Frozen brine, and Tetra Color Granules. Bettas are small carnivors and need a high quality diet to ensure best color and health. Reccommend keeping male bettas in at least a 2 gallon filtered aquarium, they should have clean, moderately flowing water to keep their fins in best condition. Many of the small "Betta Tanks" that are commercially available have so little space that your fish will barely be able to swim at all - these are better known as torture chambers, and all betta breeders and hobbiests will congradulate you for not buying such a bad house for your betta. Reccommend fish of mild or passive temprament as companions for male bettas, Fish such as Platys, neon tetras, cory cats, harlequin rasboras, plecos are reccommended, Also dojo loaches, non-agressive tetras, White clouds, cherry barbs & kuhli loaches Not reccommended - tiger barbs and most barbs, large species tetras, & cichlids of any kind, Also not reccommended - long whiskered cat fishes, & "hyper" fish such as danios, and No gouramis, goldfish, or guppies please Do not attempt to keep male and female bettas together at any time unless you have thoroughly studied the breeding of bettas -- attempting to keep bettas together, even in larger tanks, will usually result in severely damaged or possibly dead bettas.
