Honey Gourami Trichogaster chuna Six Subadult Fish An excellent option for a centerpiece fish or species tank, Honey Gouramis have unique coloration and pleasant personalities. Their long modified ventral fins are used to feel and "taste" objects around them and they are naturally shy but inquisitive. Males normally show pale bellies, but when they are feeling feisty will put on a breeding dress of pitch black with iridescent blue over their ventral surfaces and faces. A pair can be happily housed in a 10 gallon tank and a group in a larger tank. Due to their sedate and somewhat shy nature, boisterous tankmates and other species of Betta or Gourami are best avoided. They will show their best and most interesting behavior in the presence of other members of their species, but will be content on their own as a single specimen as well.
