Description

Are you looking for a small peaceful freshwater fish with a personality? Here's your chance. I've owned Rhinogbius duospilus (formally known as "wui"), aka "white-cheeked goby" and "flame-cheeked goby" for several years, and I'm so in love with the species that I plan on always having a tank of them.

Even my wild caught adults will hop around in excitement when I walk by, and they'll eat out of my hand. Their territorial skirmishes and clownish antics are highly amusing, and their breeding rituals are equally fascinating. I know of no other small freshwater fish that is this peaceful while exhibiting so much personality.

I've bred and carefully raised them several times, and now my colony is large enough that I can sell them occasionally. Here's my first pair. They're around 6 months old and sexable, and should be ready to breed themselves in the next few months. Their parents are wild caught.

They will be happy in any community tank, but they need good oxygenation and like slightly cooler temperatures. 60-72 is just fine, and a little higher won't hurt them. They handle 78-80 fine in the summer, but they won't breed it in, and I wouldn't recommend it long-term. If you'd like to set up a dedicated tank for them, you could get by with a 5 gallon, but 10 is better.

If you want to see their neat burrowing behavior at night, when they wiggle into their homemade caves, give them a sandy substrate and some flat rocks to choose from.
When you're ready to breed them (and I really recommend you do!), they'll need a small piece of pvc pipe (I can include a length at their preferred size if you'd like, just let me know) or an overturned flower pot saucer.

This pair has grown up on live baby brine shrimp and microworms, and they LOVE live food (particularly grindals and white worms), but they're now eating frozen mysis shrimp and bloodworms. Heck, I'll throw a starter culture of white worms too if you'd like.

I'll also provide any advice you need before or after purchase, including a detailed account of the ways I've successfully bred them.

Priority shipping will be $8, but I get to choose when to ship based on the weather. I'll do it as soon as possible when the weather cooperates. If you want express shipping, I'll do it at your cost, but I don't think it's necessary.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

They're around an inch long. Maybe a bit bigger.
