Minnesota Snow

click picture to enlarge Minnesota Aquatics is proud to introduce our new food line with our first offering, �Minnesota Snow!� Most breeders and hobbyists are familiar with snow flake food. For those that aren�t, this is a food that is a small pellet, and, when dropped into a tank, quickly breaks apart to drift along the substrate until it covers a part of itt like a little snow pile.� The shrimp are quickly attracted to it and pick it apart in a swarm.� Often, they leave the food shortly after, and it remains on the substrate.� The beauty of the snow flake food is that when it is left in the tank, it provides a secondary source of food for the shrimp in the way of mycelia.� This is the vegetative part of fungus that the snowflake food supports.� The shrimp love to eat this, and will pick at it with fervor once it starts to grow on the left over snow flakes. Mycelium itself provides an important function in the aquarium.� It decomposes organic materials, thereby serving as a biological filter, all while providing food for your shrimp in a little snow drift looking bit of wonder.
