Description

The total cost of this auction is $22(culture) + $8(shipping) = $30. My paypal account is ryanthehut@gmail.com

It's common to co-culture daphnia & scuds; it doesn't cause any additional difficulty, and has some benefits. Pulex are the easiest & most productive of daphnia large enough for adult fish to eat.

AUCTION:
Small USPS box with bag(s) with one hundred pulex & 20 scuds - from an indoor culture. You also receive several floating salvinia plants(for scuds to cling to during shipping).

I will replace a DOA box, one time, if somebody is home to meet the mailman on the first delivery attempt. If DOA take a photo and email it to me.

There are hundreds of species of daphnia, and nobody knows exactly what species they have. They are commonly referred to as moina, pulex, and magna, to designate what size they are. Many daphnia listed with the same name may be quite different, making it important to culture similarly, at least initially . For example, if you have soft water, and obtain a starter for somebody with hard water, you likely aren't going to have success. Minor environmental factors can kill your culture. Consider temperature, hardness, Ph, and how they are fed.

My conditions:
Ph: 6.9
Hardness: 4-5
Temperature: Indoor: 60 to 75 degrees / Outdoor: Varies. My average lows in winter is 35 degrees.
Food: Indoor: Leeching from fruits & vegetables(scud food), baby food, florescent lights / Outdoor: Sun, leeching from fruits & vegetables.

View my culturing video & pictures on my Facebook page: White Worm Man. You will find a scud & daphnia video, an article, and an experiment in the photo section.

Lastly, I most recommend white worms as a culture. They are a much easier culture, just as prolific as daphnia, take up less space, and live in much higher densities. Scuds are super easy, but daphnia can be touchy if indoor cultured. Daphnia seem 'trendier' to culture, but my white worm cultures always have significantly larger harvests, even if compared to my outdoor cultures.
