Daphnia are being cultured more than ever as a live food for fish and fry of many species. This food package provides you with the highest quality foods you need to succeed at culturing this highly nutritious live food. These foods are also useful for gut loading your daphnia to pass on the maximum possible nutrition to your fish.
First is APR - Artificial Plankton and Rotifers - You receive a half ounce portion in a convenient 3" x 4" zip-loc pouch that is always filled to a gram or two over the stated 14 grams.
It is a microencapsulated feed used as a replacement feed for rotifers (Brachiounus plicatillis) making great food for feeding larval shrimp and fish. Its high fatty acid and protein profile will produce post-larvae of uniform size. Particle size is approximately 50-100 microns. APR is tested for hydrostability. It is highly digestible to provide maximum nutritional efficiency and uptake.
Here is a professional application note showing how amazingly potent this feed is and how far a little will go, underlines are mine: "Application: to feed 4 million shrimp (Penaus monodon) in a 50-ton water tank, add an average of 60 g/day during the zoel stages, 75 g/day during the mysid stages, and 50 g/day during the PL stages, until PL20 is reached.
What all of that basically means is that this is a super nutritious microscopic food that is used to professionally culture shrimp and other very small larvae, and that a half ounce will go a very, very long way!
Also included is a full large ounce (30g) of ultra fine grind, food grade, organically cultured spirulina.
Spirulina is rich in raw protein - up to 70% - and seven major vitamins A1, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E. In fact, it is one of the best natural sources for vitamin B12. It also naturally contains beta-carotene and other color enhancing pigments, as well as a whole range of beneficial minerals. In addition, Spirulina has a 62% amino acid content. It not only contains eight major amino acids, but also all essential fatty acids required for complete nutrition.
Spirulina is used to make instant green water by simply stirring the very smallest amount into a jar of tank water and feeding to your daphnia culture sparingly. Waiting until it is cleared before feeding again. Once mixed with water, any left over should be refrigerated till used. Contrary to popular belief, green water made with spirulina powder will NOT reanimate and grow if placed in a sunny window. It will decompose like any other fish food placed in water.
You also receive four of my very popular 7ml feeding pipettes. They will become one of the most used items in your fish room!
Your order ships USPS First Class Mail package service anywhere in the US and Puerto Rico with shipping included in the purchase price. If you are outside the US/PR, PLEASE email for shipping before bidding or buying. You'll receive a Paypal invoice to pay for your purchase and verify your shipping address at the close of the auction.
Thanks for viewing my auction and best of luck with your fish!
