Description

Join my Facebook group Fishroom, its a tropical fish magazine for advanced aquarists: Fishroom

This auction is for a small Priority box with starters of white worms & spring tails, and Russian red daphnia. Shipping not included and is $6 additional.

Ive cultured nearly everything over the years. I culture certain critters because of ease and productivity. For my fishroom I culture red worms, white worms & springtails, Russian red daphnia, and vinegar eels. This auction doesnt include red worms or vinegar eelsIm only sharing what I culture. If you ask I will include a small starter of vinegar eels.

1: White worms & springtails: These are cultured together. If youve read white worms need to be below 65 degrees to reproduce that is misleading. I live in a Western state (Oregon) and they are productive year round. In the summer I put them in a cool spot in the garage and regularly harvested from them. At night the temperature cools enough for them to remain productive.

With my white worms I also culture springtails. This is a tiny thing and good for feeding smaller fish. They get along fine with the white worms and are highly productive. The photo are springtails Im feeding to young fish. They feed up to medium sized fish.

2: Daphnia(Russian Red): This is an easy strain I culture outside in the summer and indoors in the winter. These Russian reds are very easywhatever youve read about them being difficult is nonsense. The trick is to only use very aged water that has never had chemicals added to it. When you get your daphnia have a couple different gallon jugs with water from different sources, and split the daphnia into each. The containers that have living daphnia the next day means that water is good. I can get a starter culture from the mail and get a 100% success ratejust use aged water where no chemicals have been added.
