Auction
You receive established culture, food, and new medium for numerous future cultures. Shipping not included in a price and is $15. I culture grindal worms, red worms, and springtails together. All are prolific, eat the same things, and are easily harvested.

1. One deli container of established culture.
2. The remainder of the medium-sized USPS box filled with the best medium I use. This is enough medium to make a dozen+ shoebox cultures.
3. Food.

Guarantee
Live delivery is guaranteed only if someone is home and receives the package. Shipping not included in guarantee. You will be notified of the ship date, and the package typically shows up two to three days later. Ill replace a DOA one time.

Culturing
Container: Sandwich and shoe-box containers work great.

Medium: Potting soils, WalMart worm bedding, coco fiber, or peat moss. Keep moist but not wet.

Food: Iams cat food works great if kept wet. Rice, beans, chicken, fish, breads, cereals, baby food, oatmeal, fish food, baked potato, leftovers, etc.

Temp: Room temperature. The grindal and reds get more productive the warmer the culture gets. Springtails are more productive at cooler temperatures.

Springtails:
They are tiny, about the size of a gnat, but even my angelfish eat them. They float and will live on the surface for weeks. To harvest scoop out the sections of soil they are heavy in, and drop into a cup of water causing the springtails to float. They arent overly productive at grindal worm temperatures, but you will get some harvests from them.

Grindal worms:
Grindal worms are easy. The hardest part is finding a medium they like as your local soils are different, but this auction comes with really nice mediumso you have time to find some nice local alternatives. To harvest place a piece of plastic over a mass of worms, and later remove it with worms attached.

Red Worms:
These are fairly big worms. When a culture needs harvesting I remove the mass of redworms under the food, rinse them, and put them in the freezer until nearly frozen. I then chop them up with a knife. They are super easy and eat just about anything.

I culture in the garage and get fruit flies in the culturesso keep in mind when you get the culture you might need to blow them out for a few days.
